Keeping Christmas Creative

By Creative Planning Team Member - Natalie Bowers

Hello again! It’s Natalie here. For my blog post this month, I thought I’d share how I used the ‘His Name Shall Be’ Mini Creative Pack, as it’s the foundation of my planning and journaling in December.

Rachel really knocked it out of the park with the ‘His Name Shall Be’ collection. The colours and artwork are sublime; they give me a sense of calm when I look at them, which is something I definitely need at this time of year - for lots of reasons!

When I received my creative pack, I couldn’t wait to set up my planner, so I got to work straight away. First of all, I used my paper trimmer to slice the A4 acetate sheet into two A5 pieces. I confess this broke my heart a little, as it is so beautiful, but I love how it looks in my rings, so it was worth it. I used one piece to mark the start of the bullet journal section of my planner, and the other piece to mark the finish - they act like bookends and help me keep all my planning pages in one place. In both sheets, I punched the holes so that the wise men on their camels faced right. This way they look as if they are traveling onward … into the month and beyond!

Next, I decided to use the postcard from the pack as the centrepiece of my December cover page. It’s the perfect size to sit in the middle of an A5 page and the colours and words set the perfect tone for a calm Christmas. To give the postcard a foundation, I used a black pen to add a doodly border. I think it finished it off perfectly.

It took me a while to decide what to do with the vellum. It’s such a beautiful sheet that I really didn’t want to cut into it, so, in the end, I decided to simply fold it in half and use it as a folder to store the sticker sheets from the collection. That way, I get to enjoy seeing it every time I reach for my stickers!

As yet, I haven’t used the vinyl stickers, but I’m thinking I’ll save them for a special page in my December Daily journal, perhaps for the day when our church holds its virtual Carols By Candlelight Service – I think they’ll be just right for that.
